Kids Meet The Masters at Concert in the Round
Children ages 4 to 12 will have the opportunity to enjoy a mixture of classical and contemporary music at the Lenape Chamber Ensemble’s Concert in the Round. The February 25th concert will feature descriptive and melodic excerpts from the Ensemble’s Friday evening and Sunday afernoon adult concerts. Included in the program will be excerpts from Haydn's String Quartet in A for two violins, viola and cello, Sir Arnold Bax's Quintet for oboe and strings and the Piano Trio in G Minor by Clara Schumann. Among the performers will be concert pianist Natalie Zhu, who has toured all over the world and performs regularly in Philadelphia, oboist James Austin Smith from the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, Cyrus Beroukhim, concertmaster of the New York Symphonic Ensemble and Jesse Mills, violinist and director of the Alpenglow Chamber Music Festival, violist Brett Deubner and cellist Arash Amini, both from the New Jersey Symphony.
Moderator for the 45 minute program will be oboist James Austin Smith. The children will meet the performers, learn about rhythm and melody, and see up close how they create music from their instruments. In addition, there will be questions and answers, a hands-on instrument demonstration, and refreshments for all.
Admission is $2.00 for each child. Parents and adults accompanying children will be admitted free. The Lenape Chamber Ensemble’s Concerts In the Round are supported by the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts, the regional arts funding partnership of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
